What’s New?

You asked for them…Shopping Carts! We have purchased six bright lime green ones. They are on wheels and have a pull up handle. Great for toting bolts of fabric around, but not strong enough to put your sewing machine in. If you need a cart for that, let us know.

The One Million Pillowcase Challenge workshops are still going on each month. The next datesBeginner Applique
are Tuesday, August 17 from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm, or Saturday, September 11 from 11 am to 5 pm. We hope that you can join us on one of those dates. And don’t forget, you don’t need to bring a thing!

We thought it would be fun to have our own Hoffman Challenge (prior to the real thing on July 23, 2010). Then we can have a quilt show in the store. The fabric and details are here, so call or come in and get more information on the entry rules.

So, let me think…what else is new?  Did you notice our new dress forms (in red, of course)? We have some new gift items: Laurel Burch socks, super cute floral embroidery scissors, quilters’ license plate frames, “Quilt Happy” insulated coffee mugs, Kaffe Fassett umbrellas, and needle minders that look like beautiful cameo pins.

Project Sewing Workshop: We are so excited to bring you this new project, brought to you by Linda Lee. It is a program designed for the garment sewer. We are adding new products everyday, so please check back often to view new and exciting fabrics, notions, and patterns! Let the fun begin!

Fabric: Tons of new spring fabrics! We are opening huge boxes daily so you just have to come see.

Tutto Sewing Machine totes: If you are still carrying your machine here and there, you shouldn't be! We carry the most wonderful carriers that are pulled effortlessly behind you. They come in two sizes to accomodate all the machines, and in delicious colors like lime, purple, red, blue, turquoise, brown, and black. If we don't have your favorite color in stock we will be happy to order it for you!

We are now selling Horn and Roberts sewing tables. They are very sturdy, and beautifully made, well-designed for quilters and all the storage and sewing space we need. And best of all they are lower priced than our previous brand. We have one set up in the Bernina room, so be sure to see it when you are next in the store.

Quilts for Kids is always looking for volunteers to donate fabric, thread, batting, pennies, or time to make quilts and machine quilt them for children at UNC Children's Hospital who are receiving chemotherapy for life-threatening illnesses. Quilts should be 40 x 45" or smaller. Our contact person is Donna Van Dalen. triangleqfk@gmail.com.

We are sending our newsletters electronically now, so if you are not on our email list, please contact us to sign up. We will continue to create a printable copy of our class schedule for those of you who like to relax and peruse our newsletter. The printable version is posted in the link at the top of this page and will now print with color photos!

Re-usable bags: We are trying to do our part to cut down on paper and plastic waste by encouraging you to bring a bag from home or just carry your purchases out bag-free. Thank you for all your support on this-it has made a huge difference. We have an Earth Day class this year if you would like to learn to make quickie shopping bags.
